The Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI) holds its 2026 chess tournament on October 17–18, 2026 at Robinsons Galleria Cebu, with play starting at 9:00 AM each day. The theme is "United in Strategy, Driven for Victory". Eleven CESAFI member schools send teams across six divisions — College Men, College Women, High School Boys, High School Girls, Elementary Boys and Elementary Girls. Each division runs its own format depending on the number of teams: single round robin, double round robin, or Swiss, at 30 minutes plus a 30-second increment (45+30 for College Women). Teams field four boards plus two alternates. Match points decide the standings, with game points, direct encounter, top board results and Sonneborn-Berger as tiebreaks. Gold, silver and bronze medals go to the top three teams in every division and to the top three players on each board, and the gold medallist team in each division earns the right to represent CESAFI at the Regional PRISAA. This is a closed school-league event — entries come through CESAFI member schools, not through public registration.

The gold medallist team in each division qualifies to represent the Regional PRISAA. RULES Standard FIDE Laws of Chess apply. Pairings by the latest licensed Swiss Pairing Manager. Moves must be recorded throughout the game, including with under 5 minutes left. Only team captains are allowed in the playing area. Proper attire required — no slippers, short pants or sandos. Appeals: in writing within 30 minutes of the game, with a ₱2,000 protest fee, refunded if the appeal is upheld. This is a closed CESAFI school-league event — there is no public registration and no published entry fee. 1. Entries are made by CESAFI member schools, not by individual players. If you are a student-athlete, coordinate with your school's chess coach or athletics office. 2. Each team is 1 to 6 players, including 2 alternates, assigned to Boards 1 to 4 plus Alternates 1 and 2. 3. A provisional board order with the complete list of players is due at least one week before the event. 4. Final board assignments are due no later than one day before the tournament starts. 5.
