The Calauan Chess Society brings FIDE-rated chess back to Calauan with the town's 1st FIDE-Rated Chess Tournament, on Saturday, August 29, 2026 at 9:00 AM at the Lamot 2 Covered Court. It is a rapid event at 15 minutes plus a 3-second increment, open to players rated 1799 FIDE and below — whether you are just starting out or chasing your next rating milestone. The general prize ladder pays from champion down to 7th place, led by ₱4,000 and a medal for the winner. On top of that sit six special category awards of ₱500 and a medal each: Top Calauan, Top Kiddie, Top Junior, Top Senior, Top Female and Top PWD. Entry is ₱300 for Calauan residents, kiddies, seniors and PWDs, and ₱400 for non-residents. Registering on the day adds a ₱100 surcharge, so book online through the official Google Form. The tournament is run in partnership with the Laguna Chess Association.
