The 1st CMA Training Chess Tournament runs on Saturday, September 26, 2026 at SM City Sta. Mesa in Manila, from 1:00 to 5:00 PM. ChessMatics Academy designed it as a beginner-friendly event for young players to gain tournament experience, build confidence and enjoy competitive chess in a supportive environment. It is six rounds of Swiss System at 10 minutes plus a 5-second increment, capped at 20 participants. Entry is open to players aged 5 to 16 rated under 1500. The champion takes Php 500, with cash down to fifth place, plus Php 100 each for Top Female, Top Under 10 and Top Under 15. Registration is Php 150 for ChessMatics Academy members and Php 250 for everyone else. The organizers are explicit that this is a developmental event: it is intended for beginners and developing players, not for experienced or competitive players looking for a high-level tournament.
