The 1st Scholar's Cup is a FIDE-rated rapid chess tournament for students, held on August 30, 2026 (9:00 AM) at the LNU Gymnasium, Leyte Normal University, Tacloban City. Organized by Bayanihan Gambit Chess Club in partnership with UP Pawn Pioneers and Engr. Jhirov, it is open to Elementary, High School, and College students. Time control is 15 minutes + 3 seconds increment, entry fee is ₱250, and the champion takes ₱3,000 plus a medal and certificate. Cash prizes run down to 10th place, with additional ₱300 awards for the Top Elementary, Top High School, and Top College finishers.
