The CDO Next Rising Star Challenge is a one-day rapid tournament presented by Capt RnB at the City Tourism Hall in Cagayan de Oro City on Sunday, August 23, 2026, starting 9:00 AM. The event is played over the board at a rapid time control of 15 minutes plus 2 seconds increment per move. Two divisions run side by side. The Open Category is free for all and pays ₱3,000 to the champion, with cash prizes down to 10th place. The 17-17 Category is reserved for young players below 17 years old with a Chess Portal rating of 1700 and below, and pays ₱2,000 to its champion, likewise with prizes to 10th place. Four special prizes of ₱300 each go to the Top Senior, Top 6 Under, Top Lady (Open) and Top Lady (17-17). Entry is ₱200 for the Open Category and ₱150 for the 17-17 Category — and registration is strictly in advance, as there is NO onsite registration on tournament day.
