Rapid Saturday returns to CityMall Surigao for its 17th edition on Saturday, August 22, 2026, with Round 1 at 1:00 PM. Chess Jam Academy has been running the series week after week, and the format that keeps players coming back is unchanged. Three divisions play side by side — Open, Beginner, and Intermediate — so a first-timer is never paired straight into the strongest player in the hall. Each division carries its own cash prize ladder down to 3rd place plus a Top Female award, and the prize money for the Beginner and Intermediate champions is up to ₱400 this edition. Entry stays at ₱100 for any division. The format is 5 to 7 rounds of Swiss System at a rapid time control of 10 minutes plus 2 seconds increment per move.
