Season 7 of Surfin' the Board, the OLOPSC PTA's interschool rapid chess tournament, runs on Saturday, October 17, 2026 at the DAS Hall of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour College in Marikina. Play starts at 8:00 AM. The OLOPSC Parents Teachers Association runs it in cooperation with the National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP) and the Professional Chess Trainers Association of the Philippines (PCTAP). It is NCFP-sanctioned; NCFP membership is desired but not required, and the event is open to rated and unrated players alike. This is an individual competition for students representing the school they are currently enrolled in, split into two categories: Kiddies for students 12 years old and below, and Junior for students aged 13 to 18. Schools may enter as many players as they wish. Format is seven rounds of Swiss System at 15 minutes plus a 5-second increment. Registration is Php 400. The Junior champion takes Php 4,000 and a plaque; the Kiddies champion takes Php 3,000 and a plaque, with both categories paying cash and medals down to 10th place. Slots are limited.

TOURNAMENT RULES (as printed on the poster) 1. Time control shall be rapid — 15 minutes plus 5-second increment per move. 2. No draw offer before 30 moves of playing has been done. 3. Penalty for illegal moves (wrong movement of pieces, exposing the king to attack, capturing the king, non-replacement of the pawn during promotion and wrong promotion, using two hands in making a move, pressing the clock without making a move): 1st offence — plus one minute to the opponent; 2nd offence — loss of the game. 4. Infringement (violations not included in the major offences, at the arbiters' discretion): 1st offence — oral warning; 2nd offence — plus one minute to the opponent; 3rd offence — forfeiture of the game. Players' complaints must be made and validated when the action is completed and the clock has been pressed. 5. Spectators: all non-players are not allowed to stay in the tournament area. Players are not allowed to analyse and stay in the area after each game. 7. Game scoring system: 1 point for a win, 1/2 point for a draw, 0 points for a loss. 8. Drawn games upon claims: threefold repetition of positions; 50-move rule without a pawn move or capture.
