The Engr. Jhirov FIDE-Rated U24 Rapid Chess Tournament runs on Saturday, October 10, 2026 at 9:00 AM at Robinsons North Tacloban, Tacloban City, Leyte. This is your chance to earn an official FIDE Rapid rating. Play is Swiss System at 25 minutes plus a 3-second increment, in a single open rapid category for players 24 years old and under. Registration is ₱300. The champion takes ₱3,000, a trophy and a certificate, with cash and awards down to 10th place. On top of the placement ladder there are special awards for the top college, teen and kid players of each gender, plus medals and certificates for the top finisher at every age from 6 to 12. The event was rescheduled from a FIDE-Rated Standard Open due to schedule conflicts with several other tournaments in Region 8, and doubles as preparation for the City Meet 2026 on October 23–24. Slots are limited and filled on a first come, first serve basis.
