The WR Chess Bughouse Open Championship 2026 is a one-day bughouse (transfer chess) team championship on Saturday, August 29, 2026 at the Quezon City MICE Center, Quezon City. Bughouse is played by teams of two on separate boards — every captured piece is passed to a teammate, who can immediately drop it into their own game. The championship is expected to draw 400 players forming 200 teams, and is open to beginners, club players, seasoned competitors and foreign teams. The day runs a 10-game elimination stage in the morning, then a knockout stage — Round of 16, quarterfinals, semifinals and finals — in the afternoon, with the awarding ceremony at 4:15 PM. The champion team takes ₱100,000, with ₱70,000 for 2nd, ₱50,000 for 3rd and ₱30,000 for 4th, plus prizes down to 20th place across both elimination groups and eight ₱5,250 special awards. Foreign teams finishing in the top three receive additional airfare assistance of USD 1,000 / 600 / 400 on top of their regular prizes. Special tournament shirts go to the top finishers and food is provided to participants. Promoted by WR Chess and organized by the National Chess Federation of the Philippines, with support from the Quezon City Government and the Philippine Sports Commission.
