The Samal Island City Sports Office brings the Virgen Dolorosa Rapid Chess Tournament 2026 to the Barangay Miranda Gym in the Island Garden City of Samal, Davao del Norte, on September 12 and 13, 2026. Play starts at 8:00 AM on both days. The tournament runs three divisions across the two days. The Open Division plays on Saturday, September 12. The Kiddies Division (11 & Under) and the Junior Division (12–20 years old) both play on Sunday, September 13. Beyond the placement ladders, every division carries special awards — Top Samal Player, Top Senior, Top Lady, top age-group boards and youngest-participant prizes — so there is something to play for at every level. Registration is free for residents of the Island Garden City of Samal. Non-residents may register on the day of the event and pay the corresponding registration fee.
